On this page you will find a collection of lesson plans that I have completed over the course of my career at High Point University. In just four years, I have been able to hone my lesson planning skills in order to seamlessly infuse subjects, technology, and all sorts of other engaging elements to create the best experience for my students.
Social Studies Literacy Infused Unit
For Methods of Teaching Social Studies, I was challenged with an assignment which required me to use and fuse literacy, technology, arts, and social studies instructional strategies and materials to plan and implement a comprehensive unit for one grade level. I selected a 3rd grade social studies topic, Geography, and integrated literacy, social studies, and art into five cohesive lesson plans.
Book Buddies Portfolio
For Reading Assessment & Instruction, I was paired with a student in a local elementary school who had been identified as a struggling reader. My task was to administer a number of early reading assessments to determine the strengths and weaknesses of my student. Once those had been established, it was my responsibility to implement five reading comprehension strategy lessons with the student based on his assessment data.
STEM/LEGO Portfolio
This is a collection of Science, Mathematics, and LEGO lessons which all integrate some form of technology or engineering. These were all implemented in either small-group or whole-group settings and solicited high engagement!
